The Details:

Renaissance Fairs were annual events celebrating the end of the deadly winter and the spring rebirth of the lands and animals necessary to survival. Farmers displayed their crops. Innkeepers offered their specialty dishes. Craft people hawked their work. Artists, Musicians, jugglers, actors, amused and entertained all. It was a time of hope and promise, and a time to dream.

Like the fairs of the 16th century, our fair offers a variety of entertainment, exotic food and drink, crafts, games, and above all, an opportunity for any person to actively participate in a historical reenactment. Leaving the fast paced century far behind. Instead of the boringly familiar, "Hi, how are you?" you are greeted with " How now, good Lord and Lady, welcome". Enjoy the sounds that fill the background for this colorful cornucopia is lutes, flutes, handmade skin drums and bag pipes.

For the price of admission, you are encouraged to immerse yourself into the stark simplicity of the times, dressing of the period, speaking the Olde English Language, and lending your good cheer to the pageantry. Hark, be bold! Take on the guise of a Renaissance figure, be it Lord or Merchant, Peasant Farmer or Court Jester. Then stroll down the paths of our realm in your new persona, delighting in the surge of strange sights and tantalizing smells. Make way for the royal procession, lest you loose your head to the Queens Royal Guards, barter with a merchant for fine crafted wares. Indulge your appetite with succulent meats, and tasty treats. Leer at the buxom maidens. Cheer on a dashing Knight. Watch in awe as Jousters compete for thy Ladies honour. Rejoice at the musicians. Marionette shows for those young at heart. This year's special attraction will include Roman Legionnaires and Gladiators reenacting Roman Times.

As of 2003 this event in its 22nd year is co-sponsored by the Society for Creative Anachronism, an organization devoted to educating the public about the middle ages.
